The Crime Writers Writing Hole is a writing support group targeted at all crime writers, of any age, speaking any language, from any country, of any gender. We define crime writing as any novel, short story, or whatnot that focuses specifically on crimes, solving them, and/or the criminals (or detectives, or whoever) behind them.

The Crime Writing genre can be merged with virtually any other genre as well. For instance you can have a Romantic mystery, or a Historical one, or a fantastical one, or a Sci-fi one. (In case you weren't aware, Sci-fi is science fiction.) So if you write a combination of genres (and they don't have to be any of the ones listed above so long as it involves crime as a key aspect) please join our budding community.

We will read your work, review it, comment on it, rate it, and edit it gladly. We are NOT a publisher or an agent, although if YOU are (or represent one) you are welcome to join and advertise YOURSELF as such. Occasionally we may hold a workshop or a contest.

This group is intended SOLELY as a writing forum for crime writers. We will encourage you and do all we can to help you make your work publisher-worthy, or whatever your personal goal is. That's what we're here for. This is a group for writers, by writers, and of writers.

You're welcome to go off on 'writer's rants' about your latest plot twist, or character development, or weird idea you got after you woke up at midnight screaming and didn't know why. You're also welcome to use us as resources for research that you're too lazy to go to the library to do. Feel free to contact any member of the group at any time to ask any question involving writing, grammar, crime solving techniques, legal jargon, politics, character development, or anything that relates to writing or crime writing in general.

The members of the Crime Writers Writing Hole are there for you, but there is a catch. (You knew I was going to say that, didn't you?) YOU have to provide feedback on other writers and support them. If you do that, then we'll gladly support you!

Oh and one last thing. Yes, there are a few rules, but only a few.

1.) No harassment, hazing, or abuse of any other user or group of users for any reason whatsoever. That includes trying to solicit contact information or personal information from them, harassing someone based on their race, ethnicity, political views, sexual orientation, marital status, occupation, income, place of residence, familial status, gender, age, physical traits or deformities, or on anything whatsoever. BULLYING IS NOT ALLOWED. So don't make fun of people, or their work, or their friends, or their...You get the picture. CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM IS OKAY, but ONLY if it is constructive, and not demeaning.

2.) If someone says NO that means NO. No questions asked.

3.) Please keep profanity or lewd language to a minimum. If you use it in your writing, its fine. But please include a cautionary note at the top of each article that contains such material. This is only so that members with any sort of aversion to it will be aware.

4.) Same goes for sexual content.

5.) Yes, this is a crime genre, so there is probably violence in your work. This is acceptable, but please don't make it long and gory and describe in explicit detail every last drop of blood. Try to keep it reasonable.

6.) And just be respectful of other writers. We want to read your work, and we'll do it nicely, as long as you do the same. The Golden Rule is perfectly applicable. Treat others the way you want to be treated yourself.
